In what ways is the funeral ceremony at the beginning of the story alike or different than those we know?

The funeral process in Kira's village lasts for four days, somewhat similar to our funerals, which generally have two days of visitation, prior to the funeral service and burial. This, of course, varies with personal preference. We also do not consider our funeral services as a period in which we wait for the spirit of our loved ones to leave their bodies and have safe passage before burial.
