How does the Way, the law that governs life in the village, seem similar and different from the laws that govern our lives?

The law is governed by the Council of Guardians, which hears cases and serves as a jury. The accused is provided with council and undergoes what we would call a trial. A verdict is then rendered. This process is similar to ours in a number of ways. I would liken the Council of Guardians to the Supreme Court, as they are the only jury. We too provide defendants with council when necessary.
