What is the author's style in Garden of Shadows by V.C. Andrews?

The language of the novel is English. The dialogue of this novel is stiff, reflecting to some extent the time period in which the novel is set. Within the exposition, the language is less formal, but still contains some formality that again reflects the time period in which the novel is set as well as the higher education of the main characters of the novel. There are few foreign phrases in the novel and most of the language is simple enough that most readers will be able to comprehend with little trouble.
