Who is Janine Hathaway from Frostbite and what is their importance?

Janine Hathaway is Rose's mother. Janine is not like other dhampir women who made the choice to have children and raise them. Instead, Janine is a guardian who has spent her life protecting a member of a royal family. Janine is a star among guardians because she has dozens of kills and has been in some very dangerous situations, but survived. For this reason, Rose resents Janine's fame among her classmates.
