What do Leon Longbridge and Jon Wood do in order to help Frightful in "There Are Three"?

Leon Longbridge builds a wooden scrape and secures it at the top of a nearby sycamore tree. Jon climbs to Frightful's nest and takes the eggs. He places them in the scrape in the sycamore tree but Frightful does not return to her nest.
