The prayers of the victims and their families came together for once and gave those sinews a powerful impetus. The innards of the darkness moved and gave birth to me. I am the answer to their call for an end to injustice and for revenge on the guilty.
-- The Whatsitsname (chapter 10)

At the beginning of his recorded monologue about the recent events at his compound in Dora, the Whatsitsname explains his mission of retributive justice. He believes that he must avenge the deaths of the people whose body parts were stitched together to create him. Like Hadi, the Whatsitsname believes he has an important destiny. The use of words like "sinews" and "innards" further enhance the development of the theme of horror, referencing the Whatsitsname's grotesque origins.
