What is The Galactic Library

Located on Imperial grounds in the capital planet of the Milky Way, Trantor, the Galactic Library is the largest single structure on the planet and perhaps in the Galaxy. It features a magnificent grand entryway surrounded by gardens. Among the Library's other impressive features is a three-dimensional computerized model of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Library has faded by the time Hari Seldon as an ex-politician and widower establishes himself in a private office there to conduct research for his Psychohistory Project, but it is still open to all citizens. Budget cuts are beginning to require cutbacks, and a growing faction of the Library Board, headed by Librarian Gennaro Mummery, favors closing down direct access to information.
