What motivation does Kathy have for wanting to help Jason Taverner?

When Jason wonders aloud why Kathy would choose to shirk her informing responsibilities on his account, Kathy says that she has never met someone as magnetic as Jason. His level of magnetism even causes Kathy to wonder whether she can ever truly love her imprisoned husband Jack after meeting someone as magnetic and interesting as Jason.
