The most crucial aspect of survival in a totalitarian society like the one at the center of Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said, is a complete and authentic set of identification. When Jason wakes up in an anonymous and grungy motel room, his $5,000 in cash is still in his pocket, but his identification documents are nowhere to be found. Being caught without proper identification will result in commitment to a forced labor camp, at the very least.
