What does Fortney learn when he spies on Blaze and Miles?

When Fortney comes to the bar and faces away from Blaze to spy on her, he learns that she plans on placing a small bet on the Kiwis for the win of the Cup which Miles says will happen the following Thursday. He also learns that Blaze wants to have a date with Miles the night before this big race, as her excuse to only see him on that day is that she is busy every other day caring for her mother who broke her hip.
