The unnamed narrator recommends Holland as a good place to practice the skill of observation, since those who live there are so “convinced of their utter innocence” (179) that they do not curtain their windows. She describes how at dusk these windows become little stages, where people perform “individual acts of the same production titled 'Life'" (179).
