When the unnamed narrator attends a lecture at the airport about travel psychology, she zones out briefly when she hears two couples behind her discussing Cuba. One couple urges the other to go to Cuba before Castro dies, because after his death, "Cuba's going to be the same as everywhere. But if you go right now you'll see some incredible poverty" (173).
