Satire is by definition a barbed type of humor and one that Tokarczuk uses frequently within the narrative of Flights. In one instance, she depicts a character who owns a donkey rental business. This man provides a service to tourists who want to ride a donkey along the path traveled by Christ, but Tokarczuk uses the man's observations to satirize loud and fat American tourists, all of whom are loathed by the donkeys due to their great girth.
