Who is King Gezo from Flash for Freedom! and what is their importance?

King Gezo is a historical character. As the King of Dahomey, he barters with Captain Spring and is a slave dealer. Gezo goes so far as to give Spring six of his own elite guard in exchange for pistols. At that point, his men rebel and murder Spring's landing party.
