Who is Harlon Block from Flags of Our Fathers and what is their importance?

Harlon Block was a member of a high school football team that made a joint decision to join the Marines as a group. Harlon was also one of the six men to raise the flag on Iwo Jima. Unfortunately, Harlon was killed on Iwo Jima and never returned home.
