Who is Colonel Sam Trautman from First Blood and what is their importance?

Colonel Sam Trautman is the Green Beret, who runs the Green Beret school where Rambo trained. When Teasle is asked to come and give insight on Rambo, he arrives shortly after. Trautman is proud of Rambo and his actions. He is proud that Rambo learned well at the school, and he is proud that he has used his knowledge to respond to a situation in which he feels he is in danger. In the end, Trautman reluctantly agrees to help capture Rambo, but he uses techniques that he knows Rambo has been trained to ignore. Later, Trautman finds himself forced to kill Rambo when he is cornered in the town and dying anyway.
