Why does Lydia dislike the Notebook given to her by her father in the novel, Finding Cassie Crazy?

The Notebook given to Lydia by her father is a type of journal for aspiring young authors. It is filled with writing prompts to get their creative juices flowing, but its rigid and patronizing tone irritates Lydia. She continues to use the Notebook, however, because she wants to become a professional writer.
