Who is Jaromir Hladik from Ficciones and what is their importance?

Jaromir is a writer, who is working on what he believes to be an important play when he is arrested for being a Jew and sentenced to death. Desperate to finish his play, Jaromir prays that God will give him the time he needs. God answers his prayer by slowing time and delaying the moment of Jaromir's death, giving him the time he needs to complete the play in his own mind.
