Overall, the sun represents life. Since Tova is stuck in a permanent cycle of winter. Plants begin to die when not fully taken care of. People are beginning to fight over their ambitions the longer the darkness stays. Many of Naranpa's powers revolve around healing while Serapio sees himself as a purveyor of violence. Life cannot thrive without the sun.
