Why are Bathsheba and Troy arguing in the beginning of Chapter 39?

Bathsheba is arguing with Troy because he is spending all of their money and driving them financially to ruin. He is not good as a farmer and he is gambling away the rest on horse-races. Bathsheba has reached the end of her rope.
