Who is Joaquin?

Joaquin is the eldest brother and seventeen years old. He had lived in the foster system his entire life, although he was adopted once by the Buchanans, and the adoption resulted in trauma. Joaquin suffered from tantrums when he was twelve, and around the time that the first adoption was processed, he threw a stapler against his baby sister Natalie's head, knocking her over and causing his adoptive father to throw him across the room and break his arm. Since he was returned to the foster system, Joaquin has attachment issues and thinks that he does not deserve to be loved by a family. He fears that if he lets his current foster parents get too close, that he will hurt them the way he hurt Natalie. He is also fearful that they will abandon him once they discover who he truly is.
