How do Nick and Ryan exemplify the way teammates should behave in the novel, Falling Short?

Nick and Ryan demonstrate the importance of standing up to a bully. When Byron picks on Marco, some kids join in and others stand to the side and watch. Nick and Ryan go up to Byron and stop the behavior and keep Marco near to protect him. They represent the honorable way to treat classmates and teammates.
