What is the main conflict in Extras by Scott Westerfeld?

In Part I, Aya finds herself torn between her deep desire to be famous and her desire to get to know Frizz better. It is a conflict not unlike one Tally Youngblood faced in the first Uglies book. The reader wonders if Aya will find a better way to deal with this conflict than Tally did.
