Narrator (Hot-Air Balloons)

The narrator of “Hot-Air Balloons” is the daughter of Haitian immigrants. She currently attends college in Florida. After her roommate, Neah, quits school to work for a non-profit organization in Haiti, Neah’s father asks the narrator to go to Haiti and persuade her to return to school. The narrator is unable to persuade Neah, and she even begins to believe that Neah may be doing the right thing, as the non-profit focuses on helping women in need. However, Neah and the narrator soon return to college to finish their education.
