Madeline is an 18-year-old young woman who suffers from Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease. She has been contained completely in her sterilized home for most of her life and has no communication with anyone but her mother and nurse. She loves books and enjoys architecture. She dislikes her life of solitude.
