Importance of The Farmhouse

The farmhouse is a symbol of the ideal life in the story “All That You Love Will Be Carried Away.” Alfie looks across the field at this house and he imagines what the family inside that house might be doing. When he hears the sound of the news broadcast coming from the hotel room next to his, Alfie imagines it would sound better in the farmhouse.
