Who is Bree from Every Soul a Star and what is their importance?

Bree is the second essayist and character presented in Every Soul a Star. Bree's parents are physicists and her sister, like them, is a science geek. Bree feels alienated from her family as she is very beautiful and wants to pursue a modeling career. She is a girl happy to move into high school, find with social climbing and in every way "plugged in" to the world. But like Ally, she too is presented with a deep challenge to her identity and way of life when her parents have the opportunity to move to Moon Shadow to do their research. Her parents and sister are unsympathetic to her desire to stay and so when she reaches Moon Shadow she quickly allies with Ally to try and get her parents to let her go back home. When she realizes this is useless, she is distraught and isolates herself.
