Logic vs. emotion are recurring ideas. Jericho is a very logical character. Logic dictates every part of his life. He works in a field that is dominated by logic. The way he goes about his job is extremely logical. He reads over all documents and files to find any clues. He does everything by the book. But then Claire dumps him. Logic starts to go out of his life and his emotional side takes over.
