Who is Costanza from The Enchanted April and what is their importance?

Costanza is the villa's Italian cook. She is portrayed as somewhat calculating and self-interested. Costanza interacts almost exclusively with Mrs. Fisher and Lady Caroline. Thus, as a character, she can be seen as an authorial attempt to mirror the defining selfishness of those two women.
