How does Jacob hear about Bella and Edward's upcoming marriage and how does he react?

When Jacob leaves, Bella and Edward talk briefly about their upcoming nuptials. Bella hears Jacob cry out in pain and realizes he has been listening. Bella is so upset that she asks Edward to go bring Jacob back so she can talk to him. When Jacob comes back, he threatens to bring about his own death during the battle.
