Who is Shedemai from Earthborn and what is their importance?

Shedemai is the Starmaster of the Basilica starship. Her ship orbits the Earth and is tasked with taking care of the Earth beneath it. Shedemai was kept in a cryogenic slumber for hundreds and thousands of years before being woken up by the Ship's sentient computer, the Oversoul.
