Who is Mon from Earthborn and what is their importance?

Mon is the third youngest son of King Motiak. He is wealthy and lives in the Darakemba. Over the course of the novel, Mon's character moves from childish dreams and fascinations, through to the difficult moral and social questions that pervade his life. He develops as one of the most notable characters, and it is his struggle with truth and doubt that is at the heart of the story, as he at first blindly believes accepted wisdom, then rejects it entirely, before finally finding his own emotional resolution.
