How does Alia act during the ritual? Why?

Alia becomes angry during the ritual, and seems to be disgusted by the things and people surrounding her. She has no sympathy for the followers who beg her for guidance, insulting anyone who speaks. Paul feels that she has become angry due to his presence, and knows that Alia is somehow absorbing these bitter feelings from Paul himself.
