Normalcy is another theme. Mr. Willit decides that Morgan is the closest thing to normal in the junior class, and he uses Morgan as a humorous model of normalcy. Part of the attraction Remy feels for Morgan is the draw to be "normal" by associating with him. People assume that Morgan is normal, because he lives in a nice house, wears preppy clothes and doesn't get into any obvious trouble. They don't realize that he secretly longs to be involved in a dangerous war, and that he used to play scary games late at night in the streets with Nick Budie.
