What is Four a symbol of?

Four is a symbol of bad luck, which is one of many situations in this novel based on the mythology and superstitions of these people. That is a hint of the bad luck bound to strike on the Fourth Colony, though Min sees significance in the fact that there are four supernatural beings present in the scene that takes place there.
