What is the narrator point of view in the novel, Dork Diaries: Tales From a Not-So-Fabulous Life?

Rachel Renee Russell tells her novel “Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life” in the first-person reflective narrative mode from the point of view of main character and principal protagonist Nikki Maxwell. This is done because the entire novel is told in written diary accounts, composed by Nikki herself. It is only natural that the narration should be in first-person as Nikki herself is doing the writing. The reflective aspect of the narration – recounting previous events and commenting on those – occurs because Nikki is writing after the events themselves take place. As a result, she is able to reflect on them, to give them consideration, when she is writing.
