Lil J's mother is a single mother who has allowed herself to become overwhelmed with the stress of living in poverty and raising a child alone. Lil J's mother has become an alcoholic, forcing Lil J to become something of a caretaker to her. To add to the trouble, Lil J's mother appears to have begun to show signs of liver damage due to her alcoholism, causing her to suffer from terrible stomach pain.
