Brian Dance Alexander is Lil J's infant son. Although Lil J is not allowed to see his son, he professes a great love for the child and hopes to one day be able to straighten out his life enough to give Brian a good life. The reader suspects that Brian is the main reason why, when given a chance to change the entire course of his life, Lil J chooses to simply change the most recent mistake.
