In the section titled, Going to Headquarters, the author presents an interaction between an unarmed man and a soldier, who is taking the man to headquarters. The unarmed man realizes he is suspected of being a spy and asks how soon he will be let go. Although the soldier reassures him that nothing bad is going to happen, his manner foreshadows his true motives, which are more sinister. It turns out that "headquarters" is code for "shoot you in the woods," and the man really is a spy, who keeps thinking that he is too smart for them to catch.
