He expresses that change, as far as humanity goes, is inevitable, but the desert will always return to its natural state, even after the extreme violation of blowing off a bomb. He has burned his logs and posts, which have now become part of the desert again. He acknowledges that "all things are in motion, all is in process, nothing abides, nothing will ever change in this eternal moment."
