Explain why many of the petroglyphs are found in caves too high for us to reach.

Abbey says it is because of erosion. At the time the art was created, the floor of the cave was probably higher, and the artists worked at a comfortable height. However, as the floor of the cave eroded lower, the petroglyphs became higher and more out of reach.
