Nicolae Carpathia is the antichrist. He is the main enemy of the Tribulation Force. He encourages his people to get what he calls a mark of loyalty to him and worship a golden statue of him. In reality the mark is the mark of the beast. Anyone with this mark will not be allowed into heaven. Carpathia turns many of his followers against him when he first offends the Jews by riding a pig through the streets of Jerusalem. Many more people are offended by Carpathia the following day when he desecrates the temple by first murdering a man there and then slaughtering a pig in the Holy of Holies.
