How does Eddie manage to track down Bethella in the Prologue: "Little Muddy"?

Eddie goes first to look for Mrs. Vernon and finding her bakery closed, then he goes to Bethella's home. Bethella has moved from the home, but he learns from a neighbor that she moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota.
