What are the motifs in Deathwatch by Robb White?

Wealth is a recurring idea. Madec is a wealthy man who clearly thinks that his wealth can buy him anything that he wants. At the beginning of the novel, Madec offers Ben a great deal of money to be a guide for him in the desert. When Madec fires his weapon and comes to believe he did not kill a bighorn as he had planned, he offers Ben to hide whatever animal he shot and to help him continue to search for bighorn. Finally, when it is discovered that Madec shot a man, he offers Ben money to cover up this crime.
