what is your opinion of the idea that the dangers we face may lie beyond our understanding from the book deathwatch

Ben finds himself in a dangerous situation at the beginning of this novel when a wealthy man forces him to strip and run out into the desert without any protection from the elements. Having grown up in the area, Ben knows more about life and death in the desert that anyone. Ben also knows exactly what to expect when a lack of water begins to take its toll on his body. Ben is more frightened by his situation than the madman who has placed him in it could possibly know. Even though Ben understands the elements, he does not know what nature or the madman has in store for him.
