Why doesn't the Klansman costume fit the definition of a "stereotype"?

Jared, Manny, and Justyce recognize immediately that the Klansman costume goes too far because it is not a stereotype at all: it is an actively-chosen group identity. KKK members both historically and in the present choose the white robe to show their hatred and violence against people they believe are inferior. This costume may be symbolic, but it is not symbolic of the end of hatred, it is symbolic of the continuance of hatred.
