Who is Dr. Sally Li from Deal Breaker and what is their importance?

Dr. Li is a former colleague of Adam Culver at the Bergen County Medical Examiner's office. Li and Culver worked together for ten years. In addition, Li and Adam Culver had once had an affair that lasted for about a week. Myron and Li know each other from Culver family gatherings. Dr. Li is Chinese and Myron guesses that she is in her late thirties or early forties, although she appears much younger. Oddly, Dr. Li is a chain smoker: "Cigarettes with a surgeon's gown. Like bowling shoes with a tuxedo" (pg. 306.)
