Who is Arrington Carter from Dead in the Water: A Novel and what is their importance?

Arrington Carter is Stone's live-in girlfriend, who fails to appear for their scheduled vacation, thus, leaving Stone free to represent Allison. Over the course of the story, we see that Arrington has become involved with one of the subjects she's interviewing for a magazine article.
