The main conflict in the novel is the battle between good (Rachel) and evil (Trent). Throughout the novel, these two characters will pit themselves against one another in a fight for morality versus immorality....... the desire to do right in opposition to acting is a way without thought to anyone else.

A secondary conflict is the inner turmoil Ivy deals with to keep her soul intact. Vampires need to feed, and the fact that Ivy wants to feed is put aside in order to follow her conscience..... her desire to do right. Ivy believes that taking blood is wrong..... and to do so would make her a monster.
