Wanda Kraml is a college student. David meets Wanda on an airport bus when he is on his way to Whitey's funeral. Wanda works at a local candy shop. When David returns from his trip, he follows Wanda and eventually the two start a relationship. After having sex for the first and only time, Wanda disappears.
According to Wanda's sister, Judy, Wanda has always been the type to attract a man, use him for what she could get out of him and then leave him.
David finds out later that Wanda had also been having an affair with her professor, Ferdinand Karkes. Wanda ends up joining a cult and living in a group home, which is where a private investigator hired by David and Karkes finds her. Wanda rekindles her affair with Karkes.
